GPS for cats: different from dogs
Cats present unique tracking challenges: they're smaller (the device can't exceed 10% of their body weight), they wear breakaway collars, and their movements are stealthier and more unpredictable than dogs.
Any accessory a cat wears should not exceed 10% of their body weight. For a 30g GPS, the cat must weigh at least 300g. For real use, look for 25โ35g GPS for cats over 3 kg.

| AirTag | Medium (iPhone density) | No | 11g | City with many iPhones |

The breakaway collar problem
Cats must wear breakaway collars that release if the collar gets caught. This is essential for their safety, but means the GPS can fall off. Some manufacturers offer a secondary safety strap. Make sure the fit is comfortable but secure.
